2026 Scholarships for College-Bound High School Students of Guyanese Heritage in NYC

The @Guyanese Diaspora Charity (GDC) is proud to announce that two exemplary students, Gavina Hushman and Sharanie Haricharn from John Adams High School, have been selected as recipients of our 2026 Scholarships for College-Bound High School Students of Guyanese Heritage in NYC!

These outstanding students impressed our review committee with their compelling essays, strong academic records, and clear connection to their Guyanese heritage. Each recipient was presented with a $500 check on July 17, 2026 by Mrs. Bibi Shareefa Rahman, in whose honor these scholarships were created. They were presented in Little Guyana and each student will receive their certificate later. These scholarships will help to support their college journeys into higher education.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our two 2026 scholarship winners, and we look forward to seeing all that they accomplish in the years ahead.
